The driver accepts an external control input alongside its own supply and scales the light output to match it, so the dial is only telling the driver how far to go. That is why this accessory needs no connection of its own beyond the control lead, and why the fixture is still powered separately in the usual way. The lead is 3 m (9.8 ft) long and finishes in an RJ12 plug, which is the dimming connection fitted to the Extreme fixtures. Control is analogue from end to end, with nothing to update, nothing to pair and no settings menu sitting behind the dial.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt fits the Digi-Lumen Extreme 400W, 720W and 1000W LED grow lights, and the thing to check on any other fixture is that it carries the same dimming connection. Dimming is not only about light level. Pulling a fixture back from full output trims its heat contribution and its power draw at the same time, which is worth having in a small closed room and in the early weeks when full intensity is more than a seedling wants. What the dial will not do is anything on a schedule. There is no timer, no ramp and no way to store a setting, so a grower who wants sunrise and sunset behaviour, or changes made while they are away, needs a controller instead. As a dial it is deliberately plain: one thing to turn, one lead to run, and a setting that stays exactly where it was left until someone moves it.
