Lower leaves and inner sites spend most of a cycle working on whatever light leaks past the growth above them, and a bar sitting below the canopy puts photons onto the undersides of leaves and into the crowded middle of the plant, where a top-mounted fixture has nothing left to give. Its driver lives inside the housing, so the fixture goes up as one piece and nothing extra has to be mounted beside it.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eThe body is extruded 6063 aluminium sealed to IP65, which matters more below a canopy than above one: this is the part of the room where drippers, trays and runoff sit, and an under-canopy fixture spends its life close to all three. Three diode groups share the board. A 6500 K white base does the bulk of the photosynthetic work, deep red at 660 nm sits close to chlorophyll's strongest absorption peak, and far-red at 730 nm is absorbed less readily by the first leaves it meets, so more of it filters into dense growth and works alongside the red. The beam angle is deliberately wide at 120 degrees, spreading that mix along and across the bar rather than firing it down a narrow column, and PPFD is mapped over a 5 x 5 grid of readings rather than taken once in the centre, so the even coverage is measured at the edges as well as the middle.\u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eIt is there to work alongside overhead lighting rather than to replace it, filling in the lower third of the plant that the main fixture has already passed over. The fixture is supplied as the bar alone: the 3 m (9.8 ft) power cable with its control lead, the 1000 mm (39.4 in) extension and jumper cable, and the two-pack of adjustable height stands are all separate purchases.
