Vegepod Raised Garden Bed
The Vegepod Raised Garden Bed is a complete self-watering, pest-protected growing system designed to make food gardening accessible and efficient. Unlike traditional raised beds, Vegepod integrates a deep soil profile, a built-in wicking reservoir, and a protective mesh canopy, creating a controlled environment that supports vigorous growth with minimal effort. The elevated design reduces bending and kneeling, making it especially practical for urban gardeners, seniors, and anyone seeking convenience.
The UV-stabilised polypropylene bed is durable and food-safe, while galvanised steel supports provide long-term strength. Its wicking base ensures plants can access water consistently from below, reducing evaporation losses and saving up to 80% water compared with conventional beds. The fitted VegeCover not only shields crops from pests, pets, and weeds, but also moderates temperature, reduces harsh UV exposure, and extends growing seasons by providing a sheltered microclimate. Available in three sizes to suit balconies, patios, and garden spaces, the Vegepod is a scalable solution that makes home-grown produce easy, reliable, and rewarding.

Directions for Use

- Position the Vegepod on a flat, sunny location before filling, as it will be too heavy to move once full.
- Assemble base containers and join drain trays together with the supplied cable ties. Place drain trays inside base containers.
- Insert rubber joining strips between containers, bridging with clips as per instructions. Assemble side panels, joiners, and corner connectors to form the rim.
- Attach support braces into side joiners, then secure rim panels and braces to base using plastic bolts and wing-nuts.
- Once assembled, fill with high-quality potting mix suitable for vegetable growing (Large Vegepod requires ~440 L). Avoid garden soil.
- Optional perlite layer: If you have perlite, place a 25 mm (1 in) layer directly on top of the drain trays, filling the wicking wells. Mix the rest of the perlite through the potting mix. If you don’t have perlite, straight potting mix/soil is fine. You can substitute 25% of the soil mix with coarse‑grade perlite for improved aeration and wicking.
- Fill soil right to the top so wicking trays can supply moisture to the full depth.
- Plant seeds or seedlings directly. Thin seedlings as needed to avoid overcrowding.
- Water daily for the first week after planting seedlings. Reduce to every 2–3 days or once per week depending on climate after establishment.
- Monitor the reservoir. Established plants can survive up to 4 weeks without watering in mild conditions. Fill until overflow to ensure reservoir is full before long absences.
- Place and secure the VegeCover canopy to protect plants from pests and provide a microclimate.
