AC Infinity Handheld VPD Monitor
The AC Infinity Handheld VPD Monitor is a trigger-operated environmental meter that reads vapour pressure deficit at the leaf itself, the handheld counterpart to AC Infinity's fixed CLOUDCOM monitors. Where a mounted hygrometer reports what the air is doing, this monitor pairs an infrared leaf-temperature sensor with onboard air temperature and humidity sensing, displaying five values from a single trigger pull: ambient temperature, relative humidity, air VPD, leaf temperature and leaf VPD. AC Infinity describe it as the first handheld monitor to measure air and leaf VPD directly, which removes the arithmetic that normally sits between a canopy reading and a usable number.
The infrared sensor reads surfaces from -50 to 550 °C (-58 to 1022 °F) at a 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio, resolving a 2.5 cm (1 in) target from 30 cm (12 in) away, while a Class 2 laser projects a 12-point ring around the exact area being measured. Emissivity adjusts from 0.1 to 1.00, and the factory default of 0.98 is the manual's published value for leafy plants, so canopy readings are accurate without any setup. Response time is under 500 milliseconds, the previous five readings save automatically for comparing spots across a canopy, and on-device offsets allow calibration of temperature by ±10 °C (±20 °F) and humidity by ±10% in single-unit steps.
The monitor also calibrates the wider UIS ecosystem. Subtracting ambient temperature from leaf temperature gives the leaf offset figure that a VPD-enabled controller such as the AC Infinity Controller 69 Pro or AC Infinity Ai+ Environmental Controller accepts in its settings, letting the controller compute leaf VPD from its own probes long after the spot check ends. The unit measures 15.1 x 10.3 x 4.5 cm (5.94 x 4.05 x 1.77 in), runs on two included AAA batteries and powers down after 20 seconds idle. It is a spot-checker rather than a logger; growers wanting continuous records should pair it with a fixed unit such as the AC Infinity CLOUDCOM B Hygrometer. Its leaf-offset workflow turns a thirty-second canopy reading into the calibration figure that keeps a UIS controller automating to leaf VPD rather than air VPD.
NOTE: this monitor emits a Class 2 laser. Never stare into the beam, view it through optical instruments or point it at people or animals, and use caution around reflective surfaces. The laser can be disabled in the settings while readings continue as normal.

Reads Leaf VPD Directly
Ambient temperature, humidity, air VPD, leaf temperature and leaf VPD all display after a single trigger pull.
Laser-Outlined Targeting
A Class 2 laser projects a 12-point ring around the exact patch of canopy being measured.
Calibrates UIS Controllers
Leaf-offset readings tune VPD-enabled UIS controllers to compute leaf VPD from their own probes.

AC Infinity Handheld VPD Monitor
Key Highlights
expand_more
- Displays five readings per trigger pull: ambient temperature, relative humidity, air VPD, leaf temperature and leaf VPD
- Default 0.98 emissivity matches leafy plants out of the box, adjustable from 0.1 to 1.00 for other surfaces
- 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio reads a 2.5 cm (1 in) target from 30 cm (12 in) away
- Automatically stores the previous 5 readings for spot-to-spot canopy comparison
- Temperature range of -50 to 550 °C (-58 to 1022 °F) with response under 500 milliseconds
- Two AAA batteries included, with auto-off after 20 seconds idle
- Backed by AC Infinity's 2-year warranty
Directions for Use
expand_more
- Insert the two included AAA batteries into the handle compartment.
- Check the emissivity setting: the default of 0.98 suits leaves and most plant material; adjust between 0.1 and 1.00 for other surfaces.
- Aim at the target and hold the trigger; the 12-point laser ring outlines the exact area being measured.
- Read all five values on screen: ambient temperature, relative humidity, air VPD, leaf temperature and leaf VPD. Release the trigger to hold the reading.
- Press the up and down buttons to cycle through the previous five saved readings and compare spots across the canopy.
- To calibrate a UIS controller, subtract the ambient temperature from the leaf temperature, round to the nearest whole number, and enter the result as the leaf offset in the controller's VPD settings.
- Hold the setting button for 3 seconds to toggle the laser off; readings continue as normal. The unit powers down automatically after 20 seconds idle.
