The AC Infinity Noise Reduction Clamp is a soft nitrile rubber duct coupler that joins two ventilation components and stops fan vibration passing through the connection, replacing the rigid metal-to-metal contact that carries hum down a duct run. It is the isolation half of AC Infinity's noise-control pair, and the cheapest place to start quietening a line: where the AC Infinity Inline Fan Silencer absorbs the noise moving inside the airstream, the clamp kills structure-borne noise at the join itself, and unlike a plain metal coupler it is also the sealing and mounting hardware in its own right.

The coupling is moulded from nitrile butadiene rubber in a hard-wearing NBR 65A grade with a matte black finish, soft enough to absorb the sound waves that fan vibration sends through ductwork yet firm enough to carry the weight of the components it joins. Ribbed grooves moulded into each end locate the two included stainless steel hose clamps, and their worm-drive locks take either a flat-head or Phillips screwdriver, pulling the rubber down into an airtight seal that will not leak or slip under a running extraction line. Because the joined parts no longer touch metal to metal, the coupler also serves as a soft support for inline fans, carbon filters, mounting grilles and dampers.

Three sizes cover the standard duct lines, with actual opening diameters of 10.1 cm (3.97") on the 100 mm, 15.1 cm (5.94") on the 150 mm and 20.1 cm (7.91") on the 200 mm, matching the flanges on the AC Infinity Cloudline Pro T Mixed-Flow Inline Fan, the AC Infinity Carbon Filter and standard ducting of the same nominal size. The clamp works on vibration at the join only; noise already travelling inside the airstream continues down the duct and is a job for an in-line muffler. Fitted between a fan and its ducting or filter, it seals the connection airtight and breaks the rigid path that would otherwise turn the whole duct run into a sounding board.

NOTE: each coupler joins components of a single matching duct size; it is not a reducer between different diameters.

Directions for Use

  1. Choose the coupler size matching the duct, fan or filter neck diameter (100, 150 or 200 mm).
  2. Slide the rubber coupling over the two components being joined so each end fully overlaps its port.
  3. Seat a stainless steel hose clamp in each ribbed groove moulded into the coupling.
  4. Tighten each worm-drive lock with a flat-head or Phillips screwdriver until the join is airtight and firm.
