Aptus System Clean
Aptus System Clean is a stabilised oxidate that keeps an irrigation system clear while raising the amount of dissolved oxygen carried in the feed water, so roots meet a fresher, better aerated solution at every watering. Unabsorbed nutrients build up inside a cultivation system in two ways: organic residues turn into biofilm, and mineral residues leave salt. Both acidify the growing medium and give pathogens something to live on, which is how a neglected feed line quietly becomes the source of a root problem rather than just a blocked dripper. System Clean is the maintenance step that stops that cycle starting, and it does the job without pulling the pH of the solution around.
The active is food grade stabilised hydrogen peroxide, which is what makes the effect both immediate and short lived. Mixed into the tank at 0.25 ml per 1 L, it adds 9 ppm of dissolved oxygen on top of the 6 ppm to 8 ppm that municipal water typically carries, taking the solution to 15 ppm to 17 ppm. That range matters: dissolved oxygen of 4 ppm or less is detrimental and potentially fatal to plants, 5 ppm or higher is acceptable, 8 ppm is good, and 9 ppm to 30 ppm is the beneficial band, while anything above 30 ppm starts to threaten microbial life. The same oxidising action scours biofilm and salt out of lines, drippers, sprayers and feed rings as the solution travels through them. It holds for a maximum of three days in a mixed nutrient solution, so a tank left standing longer than that needs a fresh dose across the whole volume of water in it.
Diluted this far it will not kill the micro-life in your substrate, so it can go straight into a nutrient mix that already carries biology. It works across coco coir and coco blends, perlite, vermiculite, hydroton, rockwool and stonewool, plain water and soil, and in drain-to-waste, recirculating, deep water culture, ebb-and-flow, NFT and aeroponic systems. Organic growing is where the oxygen side earns its keep, since organic matter and biofilm consume oxygen on the way to the roots and regular use keeps more of it available where it counts. Mixing order is the one thing worth getting right: add it to the tank water first, before any other product, or last, just before you adjust pH. If Aptus FASiLITOR is in the mix, that goes into the water before System Clean. One more thing worth knowing is that the formula sold in Australia, New Zealand and Japan is a different concentration to the North American one, so dilution figures quoted from overseas sources do not apply to this bottle.
NOTE: System Clean is a hydrogen peroxide solution and an oxidiser. Its safety data sheet carries the signal word WARNING with the hazard statement that it causes serious eye irritation, and its toxicological section goes further again, describing a corrosive risk of serious damage to eyes. If it reaches the eyes, rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if present and easy to do, and keep rinsing; if irritation persists, get medical advice. Directions for Use

Dilution Rate
- With every tank or reservoir: 0.25 ml per 1 L
- System flush or clean between cycles: 0.5 ml per 1 L
Application
- Apply as a root drench, added to the nutrient tank.
- Add System Clean to the tank water first, before any other products, or last, just before you adjust pH.
- If you are also using Aptus FASiLITOR, mix that into the water first, before adding System Clean.
- Mix well, then continue with the rest of the tank and check pH to your target before feeding.
- System Clean lasts a maximum of three days in the nutrient solution. If the mix stands for longer than three days, add System Clean to the entire amount of water in the nutrient tank to help minimise biofilm, salt and residue build-up.
- For a flush or clean between cycles, System Clean may be used alone in water.
Safety
Causes serious eye irritation (signal word WARNING); the safety data sheet's toxicological information also describes a corrosive risk of serious damage to eyes.
If in eyes: rinse cautiously with water for several minutes, remove contact lenses if present and easy to do, and continue rinsing. If eye irritation persists, get medical advice or attention.
If on skin: wash with plenty of soap and water. If skin irritation occurs, get medical advice or attention.
If swallowed: rinse mouth and spit, and if the person is conscious give a glass of water.
If exposed or feeling unwell, contact the Australian Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 (24 hours, 7 days) or a doctor.
Classified for transport as UN 2984, hydrogen peroxide aqueous solution, Class 5.1 oxidiser.
