I’ve used Bluelab pH Pens for years and still consider them one of the better handheld pH meters available.
They’re reliable, well made and very easy to use. The digital display is clear and shows when calibration is required.
They are definitely expensive compared with many other pH pens, but I do believe you get what you pay for. As long as the probe is stored correctly, calibrated when required and never allowed to dry out, you should generally get around a couple of years of use from one.
Like any pH probe, it will eventually need replacing, and the lifespan depends heavily on how well it is maintained. Personally, I’d rather pay more for a meter I trust than constantly question whether a cheaper pen is giving me an accurate reading.
For transparency, I am the owner of Hydro Oasis. I personally used the Bluelab pH Pen for years before switching to the Bluelab OnePen, which measures both pH and EC. For anyone only needing to measure pH, this is still the pen I would recommend.
