Bugs for Bugs Beetle Bags keep newly released ladybirds close to a pest hotspot while they settle in. These sleeve cages slip over a small plant or branch, holding predators beside their food rather than leaving the first release point completely open.
A few beetles placed inside can feed, mate and lay eggs among the pests. Use bags for at least part of a ladybird release, especially when the aim is to establish a local breeding population. They are recommended for Cryptolaemus and spotted ladybirds.
The brightly coloured bags make release points easy to find again. After the short confinement period, open the bag to let the beetles move out and leave it in place as a marker for follow-up monitoring. Choose the bag size that suits the small plant or limb being enclosed.

Slip the bag over a small plant or limb containing a pest hotspot. Place a few beneficial beetles inside and tie off both ends.
Keep beetles confined for 3 - 4 days, then open the bag to release them. Leave the bag in place to mark the site for monitoring.
