Bugs for Bugs Carpophilus Catcha Refill Kit
Bugs for Bugs Carpophilus Catcha Refill Kit replenishes the attractants used in the Carpophilus Catcha trapping system. A combination of pheromone lures and the two-part co-attractant draws beetles into the matching trap, making regular servicing part of the same monitoring and management programme rather than replacing the trap itself.
The kit brings the consumables together for use across three traps. It includes Catcha A and Catcha B, pheromone lures and DDVP toxicant squares. The attractant mixture sits in the internal jar, while the pheromone lure hangs below the trap cone. Fresh mixture and a new lure are added during the servicing cycle; the old lure remains in the trap because it is still attractive.
Placement matters as much as replenishment. The system is used outside the orchard perimeter, on the upwind edges, rather than inside the crop where attracting beetles could increase damage. Monitoring starts before harvest and continues through the susceptible period, with regular checks to empty beetles and maintain the attractants.
NOTE: For use only in the Carpophilus Catcha Trap. Traps are sold separately. Read the full system label and the supplied toxicant label before use; wear nitrile gloves and safety goggles when handling the components.
Keep your Catcha traps pulling in carpophilus beetles right through harvest!

Application Rate
- Each trap: 250 ml of the Catcha A and B mixture, replaced every 2 weeks.
- Pheromone: 1 new lure per trap every 2 weeks, retaining the previous lures.
- Monitoring: 2 traps per block below 10 ha; 4 traps per block of 10 ha or more.
- Management: 3 traps per ha.
Application
- Read the full Carpophilus Catcha Trapping System Label in Resources. Use only the Carpophilus Catcha Trap, in the labelled crops: peaches, nectarines, plums, apricots, cherries, apples, pears, nashi and berry fruit.
- Locate traps 6 - 15 m outside the crop perimeter on upwind corners, at least 30 - 40 m apart. Secure the support ring to a star picket 1 - 1.5 m above ground. Do not place traps inside the crop.
- Pour the 30 ml bottle of Catcha B into the 3 L bottle of Catcha A. Replace the cap and mix thoroughly. Put 250 ml of the mixture in the wide-mouthed jar, cover with mesh, secure the lid and stand it upright in the trap.
- Suspend a pheromone lure below the cone using the wire clip. Add the killing agent strictly as its own label directs; the trapping system label specifies a registered, non-repellent pesticide with vapour activity.
- Check and empty beetles at least twice weekly while the crop is susceptible, beginning at least 4 weeks before harvest and continuing during harvest and for 2 weeks afterwards.
- Every 2 weeks, empty the beetles, replace the mixture and add a new lure while retaining the old lures. Remove spent mixture to a location remote from vulnerable crops.
Safety
Wear nitrile gloves and safety goggles when handling Catcha A, Catcha B, pheromone lures and insecticide. Wash hands after use. Keep out of reach of children.
If poisoning occurs, contact a doctor or the Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26.
Dispose of excess mixture after one season. Triple rinse containers and follow the full label for recycling or approved disposal. Do not burn containers or product.
Store unopened original containers in the freezer; keep mixed Catcha in a cool, dark place.
