Bugs for Bugs Pheromone Lures
Bugs for Bugs Pheromone Lures help monitor the activity of a target pest by drawing it towards a compatible trap. The moth lures mimic the scent of the female moth to attract adult males, giving an early warning of arrivals and an indication of pest pressure through the season. Each lure is species-specific, so one pack monitors one pest.
Match the lure to the pest being monitored and fit it into a delta or bucket trap. A bucket trap is more suitable than a delta trap for corn earworm and native budworm. A trap is still needed to retain visiting insects; these packs supply the attractants, not the trap body.
The crop and monitoring season differ with the pest. Carob moth monitoring begins at petal fall and continues until harvest, while oriental fruit moth monitoring extends beyond the last harvested variety. Light brown apple moth monitoring starts early in the season.
Check catches regularly and keep the trap usable by removing insects and debris and renewing filled sticky bases. The range also includes a 25-pack lure for Nesidiocoris tenuis, which is not a moth, so the moth guidance here does not automatically apply to it.

Application
- Fit the lure into a delta or bucket trap.
- Check traps weekly, removing moths and incidental insects from the sticky base of a delta trap or the inside of a bucket trap.
- Replace delta trap sticky inserts when they become filled with dust or insects, and replace the moth lures monthly.
- Carob Moth: commence monitoring at petal fall and continue until harvest.
- Codling Moth: a standard-strength lure. Commence monitoring at petal fall and continue until mid autumn.
- Corn Earworm: use the traps to determine the timing and size of adult moth flights. A bucket trap is more suitable than a delta trap.
- Light Brown Apple Moth: it over-winters on broadleaf weeds, so commence monitoring early in the season, as early as August in some regions.
- Native Budworm: use the traps to determine the timing and size of adult moth flights. A bucket trap is more suitable than a delta trap.
- Oriental Fruit Moth: commence monitoring at petal fall and continue until one month after the last variety is harvested.
