DIGI-LUMEN Extreme Side Bar LED
The DIGI-LUMEN Extreme Side Bar LED is a slim bar-style fixture built to light a crop from beside and beneath the canopy rather than from above it. In a dense, mature planting the overhead light does most of its work on the upper leaves, and the lower bud sites sit in the shade those leaves create. Placed at the sides of the canopy, or in under-canopy positions, the Side Bar puts light back into that shaded zone to improve penetration through the plant and support more even development from the top of the canopy to the bottom. It is a supplementary fixture by design, working alongside a main light rather than replacing it.
The bar carries 658 single-mount LEDs along its full length, so the output is spread down the fixture rather than concentrated in one bright spot. Behind them, an iron frame holds an aluminium heat sink that pulls heat off the diodes passively. The high-frequency driver sits inside the fixture instead of in a separate box, which changes what an installation involves: there is nothing external to mount, nothing to run between a ballast and the bar, and no hub sitting in the middle of it. The point of building it that way is a cooler and quieter room, since the components that would otherwise sit in a remote box are integrated and cooled by the fixture's own heat sink.
Side and under-canopy lighting suits a planting that has closed up. In a young or open crop there is no shaded lower canopy to light, so the bar has little to do until the plants begin shading themselves; once the canopy is dense, it reaches the flower sites an overhead fixture was never going to get to. The fixture is light enough to lift and reposition on its own as the crop develops, which matters more than it sounds, because the useful position for a side bar moves as the plants grow. Think of it as part of the same lighting plan as the main fixture rather than an accessory bolted on at the end.
NOTE: High-output LEDs are uncomfortably bright at close range: avoid looking directly into the diodes while the fixture is running, and use protective eyewear when working under a running light. Disconnect the fixture from power before mounting, repositioning or cleaning it.

Installation
- When mounting the Side Bars into a grow tent, use the optional Adjustable Mounting Bar.
- Extend the Adjustable Mounting Bar to the length needed for the tent's pole spacing, within its range of 1150 mm to 1550 mm (45.3 in to 61.0 in).
- Check the light reaching the plants with a quantum PAR meter such as the Treegers Quantum PAR Meter, and reposition the bar until the reading suits the plants' stage of growth.
Safety
Disconnect the fixture from power and let it cool before mounting, repositioning or cleaning it.
The housing is water resistant rather than submersible, so keep the fixture and its lead clear of standing water and nutrient solution.
