DIGI-LUMEN Light Grip Rope Ratchet
The DIGI-LUMEN Light Grip Rope Ratchet is a pair of adjustable rope hangers for suspending grow lights, letting a fixture's height be changed with a pull of the rope rather than by untying and retying knots. Each ratchet holds the rope where it is set, so a light can be lifted as the canopy rises and brought back down for the next crop, keeping it at a steady working distance from the plants right through the grow.
The hangers come as a pair, use braided polypropylene rope and are rated to carry 68 kg (150 lbs) per pair. A rope ratchet works on a simple principle: the rope feeds through in one direction for lifting, while the mechanism grips it against slipping back under load, so a fixture can be raised in small steps and left hanging exactly where it stops. Releasing the grip lets the rope run back out to lower the load again. Braided rope spreads that grip across many fibres, and polypropylene is a light synthetic that does not soak up water the way natural fibre rope can, which suits the humid air of an indoor garden.
Hanging a fixture from two points, one at each end, keeps it level and shares its weight between both ratchets, which is why they are sold as a pair. The rating applies to the pair rather than to a single hanger, so the full weight of whatever hangs from them, including any reflector or driver suspended with the light, should sit within it. The anchor matters as much as the hanger: a bar, beam or hook strong enough for the load gives the ratchets something solid to work from. Keep clear of the space beneath a fixture while it is being raised or lowered, and look over the rope from time to time for fraying or wear, particularly where it runs through the ratchet. A pair that shows damage is worth replacing rather than trusting with an expensive light.
