The DIGI-LUMEN MH Lamp - SE is a 600 W single-ended metal halide grow lamp for indoor gardens. It is built to support plant growth through every stage, and it is at its best in the vegetative phase. The extra emphasis in the blue end of that spectrum encourages vigorous growth, strong stems and rich green foliage, while a balanced output also supports the transition into blooming. Inside, a high-pressure arc tube sits within a robust quartz outer jacket. A metal halide lamp makes its light from an electric arc struck inside that sealed tube. That is why the arc tube runs extremely hot, and why the lamp depends on a ballast to start it and regulate it. The lamp uses a single-ended design with a mogul screw base, so it fits a standard single-ended HID lampholder rather than a double-ended mount. The cool white output suits vegetative growth, where blue-rich light encourages lush leaves and sturdy stems. Exact output figures are in the Technical Specifications below.
This lamp needs a high-frequency electronic ballast and is not compatible with magnetic ballasts. Its matching partner is the DIGI-LUMEN 600 W Digital Ballast, which drives both 600 W metal halide and 600 W high pressure sodium single-ended lamps. That means one ballast can run this lamp through vegetative growth and an HPS lamp once you change over for flowering. The lamp is designed for horizontal use only, so pair it with a reflector or fitting that holds the lamp horizontally. Handle it with cotton gloves, because bare skin can damage the quartz covering, and wipe dust from it only once it has fully cooled. After a brief power cut, wait 10 minutes before restarting so the lamp's lifespan isn't shortened.
NOTE: The internal arc tube operates at temperatures up to 1100 °C (2012 °F). Disconnect the power supply before inspecting, installing or replacing the lamp, never start it while it is hot, and never spray liquid on a hot lamp.
