Professors Starter Soak
Professors Starter Soak is a ready-to-use nutrient solution for cuttings, seedlings and young plants, made to give fresh propagation material a quick, even start. It comes premixed at a gentle strength suited to tender new roots, so there is no concentrate to measure, nothing to dilute and no guesswork about feed strength at the stage when young plants cope worst with a strong feed. Professors Nutrients designed it to get young plants growing as quickly as possible, and it goes on straight from the bottle.
The formula works through the growing medium. Once the medium has been soaked, a root promoter in the solution is activated as newly grown roots make contact with it, and Professors Nutrients state this gives faster, denser and healthier root growth along with quicker shoot development. Alongside the promoter sit high grade chelated micro and macro trace elements. Chelation binds a mineral to a carrier molecule, which helps keep it soluble and available to the plant instead of locking up with other ions in solution - a useful property for a small root system that has very little capacity to forage. The product itself is a water-based solution that is completely soluble, appears as a pale yellow liquid with no odour, and is not classified as hazardous.
Starter Soak suits Jiffy, coco and rockwool cubes, or any other propagation medium. The method is simple: drench the medium until it is fully saturated, then squeeze gently to remove the excess solution. For the strongest start, Professors Nutrients recommend using it together with Professors Cloning Accelerator. The brand's own feeding guidance also names Starter Soak as the better choice for seedlings and cuttings than running Professors Original Nutrient at quarter strength, and gives it as the alternative to continuing Professors Go Roots soaks through the propagation stage. Keep the container closed between uses.
