VectoBac 12AS is a professional-grade liquid biological larvicide formulated for the control of mosquito and black fly larvae in aquatic habitats. Its active ingredient, Bacillus thuringiensis subspecies israelensis (Bti) strain AM65-52, is a naturally occurring bacterium that specifically targets the larvae of biting insects, making it highly effective and environmentally responsible.
When ingested by larvae, the Bti proteins disrupt gut function, causing feeding to cease and death to occur within hours to days. This mode of action ensures precise control of mosquito populations before they mature into biting adults, reducing the risk of disease transmission. In addition to mosquitoes and black flies, VectoBac 12AS is also effective against fungus gnat larvae, providing broad coverage for both public health and horticultural settings.
This aqueous suspension delivers a potency of 1,200 International Toxic Units (ITU) per milligram, with fine 2–9 micron particles that remain suspended in water where larvae feed.
