Bluelab Probe Care Kit
The Bluelab Probe Care Kit brings together the cleaner, solutions and tools that keep a Bluelab probe reading true. It comes in three versions: one for conductivity probes, one for pH probes, and a combined pH + EC kit. The probe does the real work in any meter, and it is also the part that slowly fouls in use. Salt and mineral buildup on a conductivity probe lets EC readings drift until it becomes hard to tell whether plants are being underfed or overfed. Routine cleaning and calibration keep those readings accurate and responsive, so the feed in the tank matches the feed you meant to mix.
Each kit pairs a probe cleaner made for its sensor with the tool that applies it. The conductivity version carries Bluelab Conductivity Probe Cleaner and a chamois for the probe, plus single-use sachets of Bluelab Conductivity Standard Solution. After cleaning, the probe is tested in a known solution to confirm it is reading correctly. The pH version carries Bluelab pH Probe Cleaner and a toothbrush, because the glass bulb of a pH probe is cleaned with a soft brush rather than wiped. It also includes the two buffer sachets Bluelab pH probes need for a two-point calibration. The combined kit holds both sets and adds KCl storage solution, which keeps pH glassware wet and hydrated between uses. Single-use sachets mean every check starts with fresh solution poured into a clean cup, with nothing carried over from the last one. For the combined kit, Bluelab describe the result as restored probe accuracy, fast response times and a longer probe lifespan.
The pH kit suits Bluelab pH pens, handheld meters, monitors and controllers, including the Bluelab pH Pen and the Bluelab Leap pH Probe. Bluelab list the conductivity kit for the Bluelab Truncheon Nutrient Meter. Where both pH and EC are checked, the combined kit covers every probe in one box. Two habits matter as much as the kit itself. A pH probe must never be stored dry, because dry storage can cause permanent damage. And the white shroud stays on a conductivity probe at all times except during cleaning, because readings are incorrect without it.
NOTE: The Bluelab Conductivity Probe Cleaner in the EC and pH + EC kits is not compatible with the Bluelab OnePen or the Bluelab OnePen Replacement Probe.

Application
- Rinse the conductivity probe head in fresh tap water after each use to reduce contaminant buildup.
- Clean the conductivity probe at least once a month with Bluelab Conductivity Probe Cleaner and the chamois to remove buildup from nutrient salts.
- After cleaning, always test the conductivity probe in a known solution such as Bluelab 2.77 EC Conductivity Standard Solution, using each sachet once only.
- Avoid touching the conductivity probe face with fingers, as skin oil will contaminate it.
- Rinse the pH probe after use with fresh running water and, depending on how much it is used, clean the glass bulb with Bluelab pH Probe Cleaner and the soft toothbrush.
- Calibrate the pH probe at pH 7.0 and pH 4.0 every 30 days, and also when a reading is unexpected, the probe or meter is new, more than 30 readings have been taken, the meter has been reset after an error, or the batteries have been replaced.
- Pour a fresh amount of calibration solution into a clean cup each time, and never reuse it.
- After use, always replace the pH probe storage cap filled with enough KCl storage solution to keep the probe tip submerged.
Safety
Keep the shroud (white tip) on the conductivity probe at all times, removing it only for cleaning, or readings will be incorrect.
Keep pH probe glassware wet and hydrated, as dry storage can cause permanent damage.
Never leave a pH probe in calibration solution other than when calibrating.
Do not use RO, deionised or distilled water on a pH probe, as this will damage the chemistry of the glass bulb.
