Bugs for Bugs Fruit Fly Wick
Bugs for Bugs Fruit Fly Wick renews the attractant in the Bugs for Bugs Fruit Fly Trap Pro for monitoring male Queensland fruit fly. A cotton roll sits inside a plastic retainer and carries cue lure together with maldison insecticide. Attracted males enter the trap and collect there, giving a count that can be recorded through the season.
This is a replacement wick for the monitoring trap, supplied individually. The plastic retainer provides the fitting point inside the trap, so the prepared cotton wick is installed as a complete replacement component. Male trap catches help show changes in fly activity, but they do not measure the full risk of fruit damage. Regular crop inspections for adult flies and egg-laying activity remain part of the monitoring programme.
The wick belongs in the trap within host-plant foliage. Its attraction can bring males from surrounding areas, so changes in catch also depend on local sources of infestation and population activity. Interpret the record alongside what is happening in the crop, rather than treating every count as an isolated result.
Replace the wick every 3 months and keep emptying and recording the trap catch. This monitoring use is distinct from male annihilation treatments: the individual Q Fly Wick is not a stand-alone fruit fly control programme. It is used alongside a routine baiting programme, cover sprays or both, with crop checks in addition to trap monitoring.
NOTE: Contains maldison insecticide. WARNING: May cause an allergic skin reaction. Avoid contact with skin and eyes, and keep out of reach of children.
