Bugs for Bugs Thickener improves the consistency of Fruit Fly Lure protein bait so the deposits weather better in the field. The food-grade thickener increases the mixture's viscosity, improving rainfastness and helping the protein remain attractive for longer between applications.
The important preparation step happens before the protein goes in. Thickener takes time to dissolve, so mix it with water ahead of spraying, then add Fruit Fly Lure and the selected toxicant on the day the bait is applied. Gentle agitation with an electric stirring rod or paint mixer can help it go into solution.
The mixing rate changes with fruit fly pressure, with a higher rate for high-pressure situations. This is a bait additive: its job is to change the physical behaviour of the protein mixture. It does not supply the protein attractant or the insecticide, and those components still need to be used according to their own directions.

Low to moderate fruit fly pressure: 2.5 g per L water.
Application
Mix thickener with water 24 hours before adding Fruit Fly Lure protein where possible. Alternatively premix with water for at least 30 minutes before use.
Use gentle agitation with an electric stirring rod or paint mixer to help the thickener dissolve.
Add Fruit Fly Lure protein and the selected compatible toxicant to the thickened water on the day of application, following the directions for those products.
